My Services

Restorative Justice Conferences:

Restorative Justice is a community accountability process which invites all who are harmed by an incident to participate in a facilitated conference with the person responsible for the harm.

Each restorative conference strives to produce a community agreement which consists of actions centered on the needs of those harmed and to be fulfilled by the responsible party in an effort to repair the damage done to the community and relationships.

I have facilitated restorative justice conferences that addressed:

• Sexual Harassment

• Racism

• Antisemitism

• Assault

• Theft

• Discrimination

Community Listening Circles:

Listening Circles are a facilitated space that welcomes participants to share their thoughts and feelings with others about a specific issue or topic affecting the community. Listening circles don’t seek to repair a specific harm, even as they may focus on one.

Listening circles support people to freely express themselves, foster deeper understanding with one another, and identify common themes which can guide community goals and next steps.

I have facilitated listening circles about:

• School Climate

• Workplace Climate

• Bullying

• Parenting

• School Consolidation

• Racism and White Privilege

• Sexual Violence

What is a conference like?

Typically held in person with all participants seated together in a circle, the facilitator introduces participants and commences the conference by asking the responsible party questions about what happened. One-by-one, those harmed are asked to share how they’ve been impacted and what they need out of the conference. These needs shape the community agreement. It is recommended that participation in a restorative conference is voluntary. All participants must pre-conference with the facilitator prior to the conference day in order to participate.

Testimonials

"Kris assisted us with a Restorative Justice conference when two young community members made a series of poor choices that resulted in police contact. Kris spoke with the youth, their parents, the school principal, police and fire departments, and several other community members.

Within a couple of weeks of the incident, Kris was able to bring eleven stakeholders together to discuss the situation, find ways to provide support to these developing young people, hold them accountable, and help them to make amends. It was a meaningful and important experience for all those involved, especially the young people who made amends and found support and forgiveness within their community."

"Of all the numerous professional development workshops and conferences I have participated in, Kris Wraight’s Restorative Practice Workshop was one of the most memorable and worthwhile. Kris is an extremely skilled presenter that highly engages, inspires, and motivates all participants. She is a true expert on how the implementation of Restorative Practices can be an effective approach to conflict resolution in any setting for all parties involved.
Kris's commitment to Restorative Justice is contagious. I highly recommend Kris Wraight to any school, district, or organization that is implementing or has implemented this critical practice."
